4 DAYS

My name is Sergio Curti, flight attendant since 2016. I am currently employed by Frontier Airlines and based in Miami, Florida. I was previously based in Denver-Colorado. I was born and raised in Lima-Peru and worked for the tourism and airline industry in Peru for 25 years, until I moved to the United States in 2016. I have a degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management and I have always been doing what I love: travelling and showing my home country and region to the rest of the world. I have extensive travel knowledge about my country: Peru and most of South America, and I want you to come explore different interesting parts of Latin America with me, a native Spanish speaker and a local to Peru.
DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO IQUITOS CITY
Fly from Lima (LIM) to Iquitos (IQT). Flight time: 1 hour and 30 minutes.
DAY 2: IQUITOS / ECOLODGE
Breakfast in the Iquitos Hotel. Then we start our adventure through the Peruvian jungle after pick up from the hotel, then we will move to the town of Nauta, the first town founded by the Spaniards on the banks of the Maranon River; the trip takes about 1.30 h. with a distance of 97 km. On our way to the port of Nauta we will visit San Joaquín de Omaguas, one of the ol dest population centers in the Loreto region, from where we will be able to see the main stem of the great Amazon River, the largest and longest in the world. We will also visit the Samuel Fritz Interpretation Center where our guides will tell us the history of San Joaquín de Omaguas and the strategic role it played in the 17th and 18th centuries as the head of the evangelical missions.
In Nauta we take the boats to continue our journey to the Lodge, on the way we will visit the Fundo Casual (high water season) where we will go in search of species of flora and fauna. Upon arrival at the Lodge, we give a warm welcome a descendant of the Kukama Kukamiria culture and we can also enjoy a fruit drink station, from there we were invited to go to our cabins to leave the luggage.
After lunch, our guide will invite us to select a sustainable activity that we will do during our stay in the ecolodge (for example, planting a tree or a plant, learning 10 words in kukama, etc.).
To complete the experience we will have the chance of touring the Ethnobotanical Ecotrail that will allow us to visit 10 species of the Amazon flora with the support of Amana (virtual guide generated by our augmented reality App).
After dinner, our guide will start a conversation on the myths and legends of the Amazon and will also invite us to tour the Mythological Ecotrail that will allow us to see and "meet" 5 characters from the Amazon mythology. Likewise, we will have the possibility of visiting the Cosmovisión Ecotrail that would present us the astronomical chart of the place where the ecolodge is located together with a narration about the cultural connection between Amazonian man and the cosmos, all this with the use of augmented reality technology. Overnight.
DAY 3: PRIVATE RESERVE / NAUTA CAÑO - PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE
After breakfast our guide will invite us to take a short tour in our Private Reserve (restinga forest). Here our adventurous spirit we will challenged with the significant biodiversity of the area. During our tour we will have the possibility of experiencing the Ecotrail of Fauna that will allow us to acquire more knowledge about 6 groups of species of the area through the narration of a virtual guide.
In the afternoon, departure to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Nauta Caño area. On our visit, we will hike in search of pink and gray dolphins by the Nauta Caño creek, where we will be in contact with the vast variety of flora and fauna that the reserve offers.
The first thing that catches our attention is the river so faithfully reflecting the sky, clouds, vegetation from the banks and the big trees, the visitor has the sensation of traveling between mirrors, so Pacaya Samiria is also known as "the forest of mirrors".
Also, a walk of interpretation of flooded forests, where we will try to see some primates and sloths, during the journey we can identify birds and a variety of traditional fishing practice with the material used by the Amazonian man for subsistence.
Night excursion through the surrounding forest to the ecolodge. Overnight.
DAY 4: COCHA SHIRIYACU / SAN JORGE COMMUNITY / IQUITOS
Breakfast at the lodge.
Riverboat trip on the Marañon River either to the Cocha Shiriyacu or down the river (according to the season and conditions suitable for fishing activities). Visit to the community of San Jorge to interact with its members and understand their way of life and ancestral customs.
